What is Brigading?

Brigading is the practice of coordinating multiple Reddit accounts to upvote, downvote, or comment on a specific thread in unison — often organized externally (Discord, Twitter, email) to influence the thread's visibility or sentiment. Reddit explicitly bans brigading sitewide and treats it as vote manipulation. Detection methods include behavioral pattern analysis (multiple accounts engaging within minutes of an external announcement), IP correlation, and account creation timing. Brands that brigade are typically caught within 48 hours.

Why it matters for Reddit marketing

Brigading is one of the few activities that triggers immediate sitewide bans on Reddit, often extending to all related accounts and brand pages. The reputational damage is also catastrophic — brigading scandals typically generate r/HailCorporate threads that rank in Google for years, permanently associating the brand with cheating. The short-term upvote gain is never worth the long-term cost.

How RedditGrow helps

RedditGrow's posting workflow is single-account by design and explicitly prevents the multi-account patterns that brigading requires. The platform enforces realistic posting cadence and human-like behavior that's incompatible with brigading — protecting your brand from the temptation to do something that would damage you long-term.
